SKILLED MIGRANT CATEGORY RESIDENT VISA

The Skilled Migrant Category Resident Visa serves as a pathway for individuals aspiring to reside, work, and pursue studies in New Zealand, emphasizing skills and employment prospects. Tailored for those either presently employed or holding a job offer from an accredited employer in New Zealand, the application process commences with the submission of an Expression of Interest (EOI). Upon acceptance, applicants receive an invitation to proceed with the visa application.

Visa Details:

To qualify for this visa, applicants must fulfill specific criteria, obtaining a minimum of 6 points based on their skills and New Zealand work experience. Eligibility extends to individuals aged 55 years and under.

Living in New Zealand:

The Skilled Migrant Category Resident Visa grants recipients the privilege to live, work, and study in New Zealand. Additionally, it allows for the inclusion of a partner and dependent children aged 24 and under in the residence application.

Points System:

Applicants can claim points (ranging from 3 to 6) for their qualifications (Bachelor’s degree or higher), New Zealand occupational registration, or income. Notably, these points cannot be amalgamated across different skill categories. Furthermore, applicants can claim 1 point for each year of skilled work in New Zealand, up to a maximum of 3 points. These can be combined with points from qualifications, New Zealand occupational registration, or income.

The employment must be with an accredited employer, meeting specific criteria such as being full-time and permanent, a fixed-term commitment of at least 12 months, or a contract for services lasting a minimum of 6 months. This visa offers a comprehensive opportunity for skilled individuals to contribute to and benefit from the dynamic work and living environment in New Zealand.
