Section 61

Section 61

In New Zealand immigration law, Section 61 of the Immigration Act 2009 allows Immigration New Zealand (INZ) to grant a visa to a person who is unlawfully in New Zealand, meaning their visa has expired and they are not eligible to apply for another one. This is a discretionary power, and INZ is not obligated to consider or approve a Section 61 request.
